Thus Balilty photographs the sabra bush as a “miraculous” unit of flora, hovering in the air with its uprooted roots (a symbol of the uprooted Palestinian villages, as well as a possible symbol of the absence of rootedness of the native Israeli myth); he isolates one pad of the sabra, crowned with a pair of fruit (creating a kind of Disney-like portrait which makes the image of the sabra seem ridiculous); he returns to the image of the “hedgerow” of Middle-Eastern landscape and through the prickly wall views an idyllic orchard.
